- September: Silent Hill 2
- 9/5: Hellraiser - New adaptation of Clive Barker's most famous work.
10/24: Saw V - Yep, you knew this was coming.
10/24: Igor - Hey, if ya don't think the kiddies can handle Saw, take them to this interesting animated flick.
12/25: Silent Night, Deadly Night - Was anyone clambering for this remake?
Plus we've also got:
Creepshow - I'm assuming this will be an anthology featuring all-new stories.
The Fly - Yes, a remake of a remake. A new low.
Near Dark - Can you believe the original is actually a lost film? Apparently it only exists on video.
Piranha
Scanners
Spider Baby - Sixties cult classic gets an "update".
The Stepfather
Suspiria - And the winner for Sacrilege of the Year...
VIDEO GAMES:
Ghostbusters 3 - Two years after Viggo, the boys in gray duke it out with more pesky poltergeists.
Saw - Hey kids, see who could torture more victims! I'm surprised it took this long...
PLUS:
Howl - Interesting werewolf comedy starring Eric Stoltz.
Repo! The Genetic Opera - This "horror musical" easily wins Bizarro Project of the Year.
And there you have it, people. If you know of anything major that I missed, feel free to mention it!
i found a dvd of 'near dark' around halloween time and got it for about four bucks! so it's gonna get re-made huh!?
ReplyDeleteYep. I think the reason its such a bargain DVD is it was made from a VHS transfer, since there is no original existing filmprint.
ReplyDeleteGood, looking forward to Silent Hill 2, I very much enjoyed the first one and quite interested in the new Hellraiser. I shall likely see the Saw movie but I wait for DVD, not something I want to see at the cinema.
ReplyDeleteThe Creature From The Black Lagoon might be worth a look but I bet the costume will have nothing on the 1954 creation.
Thanks for bringing us these goodies, though I can't believe they found Eric Stoltz, I thought he was long gone from the screen.
Are you talking the same film?

I rented a dvd copy of Near Dark from Netflix and it's an excellent looking copy. Doesn't have shit for bonuses though... maybe you mean a more proper, definitive version with extras. It is definitely a film worthy of that.
ReplyDeleteHey, as far as the Creature goes, I'll consider myself lucky if its a costume at all, and not just some lame CGI creation.
ReplyDeleteYeah, that's the Near Dark I'm talking about--the vampire movie with Lance Henriksen and Bill Paxton. My understanding has always been that the original filmprint no longer exists, and that the movie currently only exists in video form. I could be mistaken, but that I've read that in several places.
