Austin, TX Commuters Warned of Zombies

I don't know what's funnier, the actual prank, or that it was this news program's "Top Story"...

  1. Run for cold climates? They obviously never read World War Z.

According to Boing Boing, this particular brand of road sign can have its password reset with disturbing ease. You'd still need a crowbar though.

  2. I think sometimes they get lazy and don't lock them, and/or don't change the passwords often enough.

  3. RayRay - Saw this on CNN.com. While I do enjoy the Zombie sub-genre, which has resulted in some of the best horror movies, I am impressed, to say the least, at the explosion in pop culture of the zombie phenomenon. Since you, Brian, are the resident zombie expert, to what, if anything, to you think is responsible for this?

  4. I would have to say (and George Romero says the same, so it must be true) that it all actually stems from the rise of zombie-themed video games, starting with the original Biohazard/Resident Evil. That spawned the movie explosion (the Resident Evil movie was the first one, in fact), and the rest is history.

  5. This just in, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING going on in Austin tonight!

PS Left 4 Dead has been my favorite gaming experience of the year! Yes MGS4 fans, I enjoyed being cantankerous old man with a shot gun more thank a cantankerous old man with an eye patch.
