The last promotional clip for Neil Gaiman and Henry Selick's Coraline hit the net last night. According to Ain't It Cool News, it's Selick's personal favorite trailer, and it's pretty easy to see why. Here it is, enjoy:
I'm full of Glee! Thanks for giving me the warm and Fuzzies with this trailer. My 3 year old is the biggest Nightmare before Christmas fan and I can't wait to see this with her.
I'm liking the stop-motion feel to the animation, but it all seems a little too light and colorful. (I suppose if it was too dark in tone it might frighten the core audience away.)
Happy to brighten up your day, Chris! And Knarf, I think the overall tone of the movie is pretty dark and creepy, which is probably meant to be a contrast to the visuals to a large degree.

ReplyDeleteOh this looks awesome but I do wonder how much heat it will be able to generate in the theaters.
ReplyDeleteI really hope it serves to bring Mr. Gaiman's work more attention.
Could be another after-the-fact sleeper hit like Nightmare Before Christmas.
ReplyDeleteyeah, it is interesting how so many great genre films have been 'stealth successes' such as ARMY OF DARKNESS and JOHN CARPENTERS THE THING.
ReplyDeleteAnd of course my work.
Heh. Sorry. I'll take my meds now.
