Random Ramblings from the Vault...

  • How startling was it to see John Lithgow's naked ass on the season premiere of Dexter? Never saw that on Third Rock!
  • How sad is it that One Missed Call was actually ranked by Rotten Tomatoes as the second worst movie of the past ten years?
  • As nostalgically charming as they may be, the Monogram films of the 1940s are largely proof that every era had its share of bad movies, including the decade of Casablanca, White Heat and Notorious.
  • If you had to nail it down to a definition, would you say that the baby in Grace is a zombie? Semantic, yes. But I must know!
  • Can someone please explain to me why New York, Chicago and Los Angeles are not among the 13 markets currently showing Paranormal Activity?
  • I found Jennifer's Body highly enjoyable, despite the best efforts of Diablo Cody's pretentiously self-aware dialogue to derail it at every turn.
  • There really needs to be some kind of deluxe, box-set treatment for the films of Lucio Fulci. Somebody make it happen.
  • Suspiria may very well be the creepiest movie ever made. It is also an absolutely breathtaking work of art at the same time.
  • Little-known fact: Evil Dead: The Musical was actually professionally filmed for inclusion on some deluxe DVD release of the movie, but it never happened. If you have the opportunity to track it down somewhere, take it! Great, great fun.
  • How can the character of Barbara be in a Night of the Living Dead prequel, when she only first encounters the zombies at the beginning of Night of the Living Dead??

My thoughts on your thoughts!

Lithgow on Dexter was amazing! He showed off his insanity perfectly! (Even though they went and showed his ass...)

I have yet to see Grace but I was thinking the exact same question after seeing the trailer.

Are you referring to follow up showings to Paranormal Activity? Because unless I've truly lost my sanity I quite clearly recall seeing an early showing in Chicago this last week!

Still haven't had a chance to see Jennifer's Body either... yes I've been a slacking!

I'll get right on a Lucio Fulci box set. I'm clearly the one that should be in charge of such an activity ;) (I wish.)

Well Barbara can be in the prequel if they end it with her on the way there not knowing what is about to happen in the hopes that they can lead into a sequel? (see: remaking NOTLD.. again)

Lithgow really did make a great maniac. As for Paranormal Activity, yes New York also got one single midnight showing and that was it. What gives?

Has to be said, I loved Lithgow. It's kind of hard to remember that he was the pyschopath du jour of the 80's, and was very nearly Hannibal Lecter in Silence of the Lambs. He's absolutely brilliant, and I can't wait to see more of him in Dexter.

But, One Missed Call really was awful...

Also, I did manage to track down the Evil Dead filmed version several months ago.

And, this weekend at my work, the three disc limited edition of Suspiria came in, and although I already have the two disc version, I couldn't pass it up. And yes, it is damned creepy.

Actually I think John Lithgow did get his ass out briefly on 3rd Rock in an episode where he became a life model.

Don't ask me why I know that.
