That picture of Godzilla with the umbrella is great.

While the original Godzilla is great, I do not believe that subway trains, when lifted off the track like that would hold together like link sausage.

Agreed. That final picture is almost as glorious as that shot of Karloff sipping a cup of tea in full Frankenstein make-up.

And I LOVE that you found room for the Hanna-Barbera version; my first exposure to Godzilla. "Up from the depths, thirty stories high..." I love that cartoon.

Great selection of pictures! I love the Big G in all incarnations, even the cartoon but dang I couldn't stand poor lil Godzooky.

The umbrella pic is a fave of mine, too. Who would've thought the big guy was such a gentleman?

And how could I not include the cartoon version?
"Godzilla! Godzilla! And Godzoooooky!!"

Brian, and others, what are your favorite Godzilla films from each era? That is, the Showa, Heisi and Millenium.

I hadn't realized what a gentleman Godzilla was.

@gord- I grew up on the old school Showa Godzilla, so he'll always have a special place in my heart. The most recent version was just so badass though, he really restored my love in the big beast after I lost interest.

Have any of you seen Stan Winston's Godzilla design?

You know, the big guy looks like he's getting jiggy with it in so many of those photos. All you need is a rap song and you're good.

Godzilla, how I love you - let me count the ways. Oh, Brian already did! :)

@Halloween

While I didn't grow up on the Showa films, I've got to say they're my favourite era as well, and film wise I think vs. Mechagodzilla is my fave.

Final Wars from the Millenium series ranks up there as well for just how over the top and ridiculous it is.

And no, I haven't seen the Stan Winston design.

So tough to pick. As far as Showa Era, the original is far and away the best film. But the kid in me will always have a soft spot for Godzilla vs. The Smog Monster. Heisei, I'd have to go with Godzilla vs. The Destroyers. And in the Millennium series, I don't care what anyone says, Godzilla: Final Wars is a ton of fun and I love it.

Christine, your unabashed love of Godzilla is just a part of what makes you so incredibly cool.

Can't decide if I love the dancing one, the umbrella one or the shiny teeth one the most.

It really does look like Godzilla and King Kong are at a Jewish wedding, doesn't it?
