VAULT VLOG: Is True Blood Starting to Suck?

Go VCR technology!

I have only watched one episode this season (#6) so I probably have not been exposed to as much soft core porn as the other viewers who have been with it from the beginning.

That said I do agree with the fact that if the raunch is somehow continuing the plot it should be kept. Otherwise it's just trying to draw people in with the sex like Showtime's Red Shoe Diaries (which I did stay up late to watch in my adolescence).

It's no wonder fans are pissed off at the gimmick.

Nope. Gotta disagree here. The show has had more sex, sure, but in equal and even greater respects, it has amped up the action, horror, and gore. I understand the frustration with the lingering on Bill and Sookie in the early parts, but considering they've had practically no relationship the last 3 episodes, I can see where the producers wanted to get in as much t and a between them as possible. And man, that subplot with Sam and Maryanne just rocks! I think this season stomps on last season, and I liked that one, too. Stick with it.

I also have to disagree with ya on this one. I've loved season 2 thus far and I felt last week's episode was one of the best of the entire show. Now that they're really starting to get down to the nitty gritty with the storylines this season, I think it's only gonna get better over the next couple weeks.

Now I do agree that the sex runs a little rampant on the show but it's been that way since the beginning and i've come to deal with it. Gets a little ridiculous at times but what can ya do.

I definitely haven't given up on it, I just think my enthusiasm has waned more than most. For me, it has good weeks and bad.

I think the show has redeemed itself in the last couple of episodes. I agree whole heartedly with you re: the flashbacks scenes. They do bring a touch of Anne Rice, what Rice did well, was demonstrate the 'reality' of being an immortal through time and place.

I think the Godric storyline is going to come to the fore and Eric is emerging as more of a central character. Which praise the gods will hopefully mean not as much focus on whiny Bill! Fingers crossed he gets his icy hands on Sookie and we have a battle of the fangs! Oh and bless poor Jason and his ignorance, he keeps the comic relief happening which I enjoy, and he's not too hard on the eyes and Aussie to boot! Grrrr!

Jess, you're way too hard on Bill. Although he is overdoing the accent this season...

They've been overdoing Bill's makeup this season at times too.

I think I have to disagree with you on this one. I'm liking season 2, though the whole Maryanne/Tara/Eggs storyline is exhaustive sometimes.
I say more vampires, less maenad.

I don't mind the sex. It's HBO - that's what they do. Or what they CAN do, I should say. And we are talking vampires here, aren't we? Sex and violence is just par for the course.

I like the Godric storyline, can't wait to see the Eric and Sookie factor, and wish poor Sam could just catch a break.
I will admit Jason's whole FOS storyline is getting old and thankfully is coming to a head. If I have to hear Sarah Newlin say 'praise his light' one more time I'm gonna throw up.
And I hope they amp up the Lafayette story - he's a hoot.

All in all I think I like this season better. I'm thinking these last episodes will be the best yet and I'm anxious to hear what you'll say at season's end.

I'll definitely follow up at end of season with some kind of wrap-up.

Also, one has to wonder if they will follow the books in terms of the romance subplot. To avoid spoilers, I won't tell what happens...

I also have to disagree with you on this. What's going on with you. I think your becoming a little prude lol. I've noticed lately you have been a little more harsh on your reviews. On another note regarding Twilight, which you seem to hate. You have to realize these movies aren't made for adults, they are for a younger generation.

B-Sol said...

Haha- I think you know I'm no prude ;-). I just get bored if the sex has nothing to do with the story. Have I been getting too harsh? Hmm...maybe this blogging thing is having an effect on me lol.

Have to disagree. The middle shows of season 2 were a bit slow but it is starting to heat back up. Also, with Lafayette becoming Lafayette again that helps. As for too much soft core; if you ever watched "six feet Under" that was always part of the show. Get used to it.

Definitely nod. The addition of more supernatural creatures, the soufle scene and Jessica in bra and panties mae this the only MUST SEE TV on this summer
