And now, comes this incredible trailer for his newest flick, Shutter Island, starring Leo DiCaprio--who is apparently the new Bobby DeNiro, this being his fourth movie with Marty. Can it be? Do we have an actual, honest-to-goodness horror movie from Martin effing Scorsese? And if so, can you imagine the possibilities? I suppose sticklers would classify it more as a "thriller", but check this sucker out...
I will excuse you while you go change your pants.
Back? Good. How amazing was that? Scorsese has proven he can do crime drama (Lord knows), religious epic, period flick, screwball comedy, biography, etc. But never anything even remotely approaching a genre piece. You can expect me to be first in line (do people even line up for movies anymore?) on October 2 when this bad boy drops.
Oh, and did I mention what's next up for Scorsese? A FRANK SINATRA BIOPIC. Dude. Words fail...

Pants are changed!
:-)
P.S. Would you believe I had to Google "Julie James" and "Ginny Field?" I totally knew who everyone else was though. :-)
Yeah, I had to look up the actual names myself. These new school final girls just aren't as iconic...
It's like escape from Alcatraz...asylum!
Okay, that was profoundly radical-looking. Period horror is too uncommon.
Wow, that looked excellent.
And pants-filling!
Yup, I thought I spied Jackie Earle Haley as one of the locked up cuckoos(http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0355097/).
Coupled with Max Von Sydow and Sir Ben Kingsley? Totally stoked.
The cast alone is incredible.
Seriously looking forward to this film since it was announced. I'm a sucker for Scorsese, he's just the man. But I'm equally excited because of the fact it's an adaptation of writer Dennis Lehane's work.
He wrote both Gone Baby Gone and Mystic River, which although I've never read the books they were based on, made some very, very terrific films. If you've not seen it, I'd recommend Gone Baby Gone.
Scorcese also did the Cape Fear remake, which isn't exactly horror, but it's pretty close. But ya, Shutter Island looks pretty sweet.
I enjoy everything Scorsese does, but Cape Fear has got to be his most overrated. It has not aged well at all, and in fact I find that I prefer the original version these days. But yeah, that was his closest thing to horror...up until now.
I am so excited about this film two things I have weakness for DiCaprio and horror set in Asylums... *Sigh*

So I'm deducing that you wouldn't mind being locked IN an asylum with Leonardo DiCaprio?
Short answer... No ;)
This clip was fantastic. RayRay is sold.
Perhaps a double-date viewing when it comes out??
